Enchantment Enchainment, July 30, 2002:
Colchuck-Dragontail-Prussik Round trip from Seattle in one day (liberally defined).
Cloudy approach to Colchuck lake with ominous views of Dragontail and Colchuck Balanced Rock.
Climbers Ho! On the ascent to Colchuck-Dragontail Col we overtook several other climbers looking for a workout on a gloomy day.
The 2nd Class to Colchuck summit was uneventful
as was the scramble back to the col to retrieve our packs.
From the col, we climbed an obvious couloir to the Dragontail ridge and then traversed the ridge to its high point.
From the Dragontail summit we took the normal descent off the back and then circled around to begin the cross country leg to Prussik Pass and on to the West Ridge.
The clouds finally receded for the only serious climbing of the day.
We caught a few over the shoulder shots on the way out - first of Prussik
and then Dragontail again
.
We have no pictures of the crux of the day - the drive back to Seattle which Rob pulled off in an extremely dangerous solo effort.
